Board Member

USA for UNFPA is seeking enthusiastic board members to join a dynamic and growing organization committed to the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls around the world.  
As a volunteer board member, you would be joining a principled, collegial, and dedicated group that provides governance, leadership, and oversight of the organization. Further, your voice and expertise will create new opportunities for women and girls; your philanthropy will lead to transformative change; and your commitment will inspire others to get involved. 

 

Board Vision

USA for UNFPA’s Board of Directors has an important role to play in catapulting UNFPA’s mission to the forefront of American dialogue and philanthropy. Comprised of remarkable leaders from diverse backgrounds, the board has set the strategy guides the organization in acheiving its goals.  USA for UNFPA’s Board is active and attuned to helping the organization reach its goals. Diversity in thought and expertise is celebrated and the board is a constant resource for creativity and building networks. All members are committed to the financial sustainability of the organization.

  • Provide governance and fiduciary oversight to USA for UNFPA. Directors hold themselves accountable and make themselves available to support good governance and effectively advise executive leadership. 
  • Commitment to make USA for UNFPA a top philanthropic priority and enthusiasm to share your commitment by raising private sector support for women and girls globally.
  • Creativity in helping grow our community by introducing networks, fundraising, and becoming well informed on the importance of global reproductive health.
  • Participate in quarterly board meetings (every 3 months), serve on a standing committee, and join ad-hoc committees as necessary.

 

Candidate Profile

A successful candidate will have the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics:
  • Advise & Counsel: Ability to ask insightful questions, guide a growing organization, actively participate in discussions, and offer advice in a constructive fashion. 
  • Philanthropic Impact: A philanthropic leader resolute in your commitment to the health and dignity of women and girls. Personally commit to making USA for UNFPA one of your top philanthropic priorities and giving or fundraising a minimum of $10,000+ annually. 
  • Advocate: A passionate and connected individual who is energized by connecting people to the mission and building the USA for UNFPA community. Willing to open doors and introduce networks, host events, speak or write on FOU’s behalf and advocate within your peer and professional communities.
