You Can Help End Female Genital Mutilation

Communities of Alakai, border trading center between Uganda and Kenya continue to be change agents against the practice of FGM in Amudat district. They go around communities-especially those still illegally carrying out FGM to speak to them out of the practice. With them, they go along with women who have started off families without undergoing the initiation ceremony, as a way of inspiring other women and girls to desist from being cut. In 2015, a total of 193 UN member states resolved to end FGM by 2030 during the UN Sustainable Development. Photo/ Edward Echwalu for UNFPA

200 million women and girls alive today have been subjected to some form of FGM. With a generous contribution, you can help end this harmful practice by encouraging its abandonment and protecting the human rights of girls everywhere.
